Although Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has never been known for his mobility, it was enough to help him out-rush New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley in the 2020 NFL season opener.

Ben Roethlisberger finished with nine yards to Barkley's six during the 26-16 victory in Week 1. Backup quarterback Devlin Hodges took to Twitter to offer up some sarcastic praise for his newfound status as a dual-threat under center:

While Ben Roethlisberger is not one to put opposing defenses on edge with his legs, he has proven to be quite difficult to bring down in the pocket. Despite is efforts on the fund, the veteran's biggest contributions still came through the air after completing 21-of-32 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Snell's efforts out of the backfield in place of an injured James Conner helped them maintain a balanced approach on offense.

Barkley's rough outing served as one of the most intriguing storylines of opening week as the Steelers defense found a way to completely stifle the run game. As a result, the Giants were forced to get him more involved in the passing game as he hauled in six receptions for 60 yards. Regardless, their game plan to put the onus on quarterback Daniel Jones to lead the offense ultimately worked in their favor.

Ben Roethlisberger's return to action is indicative of just how well-balanced this Pittsburgh team is now that the defense is no longer doing all of the heavy lifting. The veteran may not be the most mobile option, however, he clearly still has more than enough left in the tank to get the job done for this group.
