Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger couldn't hold back his tears after he played his final game at Heinz Field.

Big Ben hinted recently that the Monday Night Football game against the Cleveland Browns could be his last at home amid talks of his imminent retirement. And after the contest, Roethlisberger truly looked like a man leaving the sport he loves as he all but confirmed that it's a career for him.

“I'm just so thankful for these fans and this place. There's no place like it,” Roethlisberger said as he teared up with emotions running high, via NFL on ESPN.

While it is certainly not the way Ben Roethlisberger would like his final season to be like–with the Steelers having little to no chance to make the playoffs–there is no doubt he has given it his all for the only team he knew.

Roethlisberger won two Super Bowl titles with the Steelers, and more than that, they never had a losing season since he arrived. As reported earlier, Monday's victory assured the 39-year-old signal-call of a winning rate or at least 50 percent winning record in all his seasons in the NFL.

It was made clear this 2021 that Ben Roethlisberger is no longer the same player he once was. The mobility was no longer there, and he often struggled completing passes and getting the offense going.

Despite that, however, there is no doubt his legacy will always be remembered. And by the way the home fans cheered and showed love for him, it was certainly one hell of a ride.
