Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher tested positive for COVID-19 back in April, according to Ed Bouchette of The Athletic.

Cowher's wife, Veronica, also tested positive for the illness.

The 63-year-old isn't sure when he and his wife contracted the coronavirus, but he thinks it may have happened when they were in New York in March:

“I think I got it in New York and all the traveling, people coming into Newark Airport at the same time,’’ said Cowher. “That’s when the virus came from Europe and there was no shutdown. We were out in New York that weekend as well in a few restaurants. Who knows? There were people in Honolulu coming from China and in Newark they were coming from Europe.”

Cowher realized something was wrong when he couldn't smell lilies that he and his wife bought for their Manhattan condo:

“I said, ‘What a bad bunch of lilies. I’m never going back to that florist again,’” said Cowher. “And my wife made this stir fry, and I said, ‘Did you forget to put the ginger in there?’ She said, ‘I put a bunch of ginger in there.’ I said, ‘I can’t taste it.’”

The couple also exhibited other symptoms, with Bill having a slight fever and Veronica experiencing a dry cough. In addition, both had shaky joints.

Thankfully, both Cowher and his wife are just fine. Bill Cowher was actually supposed to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer, but the ceremony has been pushed back to 2021 as a result of the pandemic.
