The Pittsburgh Steelers might be adding a familiar face in Stephon Tuitt to their active roster ahead of the 2022-2023 season.

Steelers writer Dale Lolley asked Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert about Tuitt at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine Tuesday. According to a tweet from Lolley, Colbert said he is “excited” about Tuitt's interest in playing in 2022.

This is huge news for the Steelers. In mid-January, Fan Nation reported that Tuitt listed his house for sale and placed it under contract before the month ended. The news led to speculation that Tuitt was moving on from the Steelers.

The 28-year-old has dealt with a lot of obstacles throughout his time in the NFL in the form of physical and emotional battles.

Tuitt lost his younger brother, Richard, in a fatal hit-and-run in June of 2021, before training camp began. The defensive end was placed on Injured Reserve less than two weeks before the Steelers' first regular season game. He missed the entire 2021-2022 season.

The defensive end has also dealt with pectoral, back, ankle, bicep, and elbow injuries. He had surgery in May of 2017 to fix a hand injury, but it did not impact his ability to play that season.

The Steelers selected Tuitt 46th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, and he's been in Pittsburgh ever since. In his career, he has recorded 246 tackles, 34.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and one interception.
