The deadline for the Pittsburgh Steelers and star running back Le'Veon Bell to agree upon on a long-term contract extension came and went on Monday with the two sides still unable to see eye-to-eye.

Bell was franchise tagged for the second straight year, and now he's more than likely heading into his last season wearing a Steelers jersey. After talks with Pittsburgh brokedown and the deadline passed, the terms of the team's offer surfaced with Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweeting out the following details about the contract talks.

Contract talks breaking down for the second year in a row is not a good sign for the long-term future of the backfield in Pittsburgh. Bell is arguably the best all-around running back in the league and will be a costly loss if he indeed does end up leaving the team next year.

For the time being, the Steelers still have one of the most stacked offenses in the NFL and might have only 2018 to capitalize on the superstar trio of Bell, Antonio Brown, and Ben Roethlisberger. Pittsburgh is expected to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender next season, and it'll be interesting to see how things pan out with Bell's future now up in the air beyond 2018.

Last season, Bell had another solid year for Pittsburgh as a dual-threat coming out the backfield. The Michigan State product rushed for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns while also making an impact as a receiver. Bell finished with a career-high 85 receptions for 655 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
