Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker spoke about how Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant impacted his life.

Like he was to many, Bryant was Booker’s idol growing up.

The Lakers icon was cut from the Michael Jordan cloth. They went down as two of the fiercest competitors in NBA history.

Now, Booker is going to strive for his own greatness and do his best to honor his idol moving forward. The best way for Booker to do that is by playing hard every single night and doing whatever it takes to lead the Suns to wins.

The Suns fell to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday at the Barclays Center. Booker finished with just 11 points, four rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes, an off night for one of the best scorers in the entire NBA. Phoenix's best player came into Monday averaging 27.2 points per game.

Former NBA point guard Jameer Nelson said this past summer that Devin Booker reminded him of a young Kobe Bryant. Booker scored a whopping 70 points during the 2016-17 season against the Boston Celtics — undoubtedly a Kobe-like performance that left Beantown fans in awe that night. The home crowd gave Booker a loud ovation, just like Kobe got from New York Knicks fans when he dropped 61 points at Madison Square Garden back in 2009.
