Steve Kerr has seen players come and go throughout his 15-year playing career, his stint as a front office executive, TV analyst, and coach of the Golden State Warriors. Yet former Phoenix Suns talisman Steve Nash is one that has planted seeds of his play onto this generation.

The Warriors coach, who sees Nash now and again as a consultant for the team, noted Nash took from Allen Iverson's crossover dribble and turned into a pick-your-poison decision-making game, which proved lethal during his MVP seasons.

“Steve Nash took [the crossover] from Iverson and went through the legs, a little hesitation,” said Kerr, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes. “The ball is in the left hand, and now you've got options. You can rise up and shoot, crossover, or you can keep going.”

Kerr explained why Nash is one of the league's trailblazing athletes, revolutionizing how a player with his shooting accuracy and somewhat slight frame approached the game of basketball at the highest level.

“The reason I have Nash in there is because I think he made it cool again to pass, and he also helped influence the next generation of point guards,” said Kerr. “Like, he influenced Steph Curry, and I'd guarantee you Steph would agree. And every point guard that I watch now, I see a little bit of Steve. Setting up the game with the 3-point shot, the hesitation, the penetration and the ability to find shooters. Not to mention pace-and-space offense that Steve ran in Phoenix that everybody has sort of gravitated towards.”

Nash was incredibly fun to watch during his pinnacle run with the Suns, and even after his retirement, he's managed to leave an imprint of his play into the guards of today, who have evolved into more dynamic and versatile backcourt players.
