The Houston Texans were without a general manager all season, and it doesn't look like that will change heading into 2020.

Head coach Bill O'Brien, who has been serving as the team's de facto general manager, said that he does not foresee any changes in that capacity this offseason:

“The way I see it right now, it stays the way it is,” O'Brien said Monday during a season-ending press conference at NRG Stadium, according to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle. “We have a great group of people.”

The Texans fired Brian Gaine from his post as general manager last June and never replaced him.

Houston proceeded to win 10 games during the regular season, capturing the AFC South division title for the fourth time in five years. However, the Texans' inability to make a deep playoff run continued.

O'Brien's club defeated the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round and built a shocking 24-0 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round on Sunday, only to see the Chiefs rattle off 41 unanswered points and ultimately win 51-31 at Arrowhead Stadium.

The loss prolonged Houston's postseason misery, as the Texans have still been unable to advance to the AFC Championship Game in spite of making the playoffs five times since becoming an NFL franchise in 2002.

In addition to stating there would be no changes at general manager, O'Brien said that Houston would look into extending quarterback Deshaun Watson this offseason, saying that he wants Watson to “be a Texan for the rest of his career.”
