Deshaun Watson last took the game-day field for the Houston Texans in the 2020-2021 NFL Season. He has since lost his spot in the starting lineup and is looking to find a new place of employment. Watson has spent the beginning of the 2022 NFL Offseason working with his personal quarterback coaches, Quincy Avery and Jordan Palmer.

According to the Houston Press, the two coaches made an appearance on The Ringer's “Ryen Rusillio Podcast” to talk about Watson and his future in the NFL. However, things got a little dicey when Avery took a dig at Watson's receivers from 2020, quote courtesy of the Houston Press.

“(People) might have forgot that his last year in Houston, when he played, he was carrying like three guys who could have been working at your local Walmart at the receiver position and he went absolutely berserk. If he gets on a team with any sort of talent around him, somebody’s going to have to really watch out.”

Avery was likely referencing Texans receivers Brandin Cooks, Will Fuller, and tight end Pharaoh Brown. They were the top three targets for Watson in 2020.

Regardless of who the coach was talking about, it's time for Watson to get out of Houston. He and his team are burning bridges that aren't going to be repaired, a fact that they are well aware of. Avery prefaced his Walmart comment with selling points and praise to get the league talking.

“Deshaun is throwing the ball better than I think I've ever seen him throw a football…He's super healthy, he's super focused, he's super locked in,” the coach said.

Many teams are on the market for a quarterback this offseason, and a few have already ruled out the possibility of Watson joining their squads.
