The Houston Texans are headed to the NFL Playoffs, but there is still uncertainty surrounding the health of star defensive end JJ Watt.

The 30-year-old JJ Watt, a five-time Pro-Bowler, missed the second half of the regular season with a torn left pectoral muscle; however, the Texans decided to activate the three-time Defensive Player of the Year from the injured reserve (IR) list last week. Watt didn't appear in Houston's regular-season finale matchup with the Tennessee Titans in Week 17, but he could make an appearance in their Wild Card round tilt with the Buffalo Bills.

According to Texans Wire's Mark Lane, the Texans are “continuing” to evaluate JJ Watt ahead of the postseason.

“I don’t know that yet,” [head coach Bill] O’Brien told reporters Monday. “We’ll have to see how he’s doing today, tomorrow. We’ll continue to kind of evaluate that. Then, obviously, we’ll let you know, but I’m not sure about that yet.”

“Just continuing to build,” O’Brien explained. “Just continuing to build on what he did last week, rep-wise and some of the things you would have to do relative to what his injury was. Just continuing to evaluate that with him, in conjunction with him. See how he’s feeling and things like that.”

The Texans match up against the Bills at home on Saturday, so it's unclear whether JJ Watt will be ready by then, and more importantly, ready for the dramatic increase in workload in the most crucial of situations—a chance to advance in the playoffs and contend for the franchise's first Super Bowl.
