Hush your credit cards for now and wait for these entries to be released. Some can already be played this month giving the player a way to alleviate the anxiety caused by the boredom from repetitive gaming experiences. Don't worry if you can't purchase these games this month as you can always pray that the developers will double down the Christmas sale.

There are a lot of games that are bound to be released in the next few months until 2021 and fans are eagerly excited to spend some quarantine time relaxing inside a virtual universe.

Here is our list of most anticipated games in 2020 until 2021. Be advised that there is no specific order or a detailed criteria in making this list as we relied heavily on our gut feel.

RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE AKA RESIDENT EVIL VIII

Capcom's history with the Resident Evil franchise has produced their fair share of ups and downs. The revolutionary idea of a puzzle-esque labyrinth mixed with a different twist of zombie fiction that the series' first installment introduced, was able to wow and frighten audiences. Oh and I forgot to mention that the cringey and cheesy dialogue and cutscenes from the first game likewise propelled the franchise to the next stage as Capcom capitalized on its success by following up with three major obra-maestras in Resident Evils 2, 3, and 4.

Then there were some highly baffling moments like Capcom's decision to go for Michael Bay's explosive formula as seen in both Resident Evils 5 and 6.

This clearly shows that Capcom likes to conduct experiments. Some have proven to be successful like that time when Capcom shifted the plot from an infected city to a conservative European community or bringing the first person perspective in Resident Evil 7, while others turned out to be a mess, just ask Chris Redfield punching boulders. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the developers of the game are actually covert Umbrella Corp. scientists for their random experimentations.

Capcom's latest installment brings a new formula to the series which has intrigued a lot of gamers. The setting which looks like it was based on the colonial or Victorian period, given the involvement of werewolf looking creatures and witches mutated by science brings in a new twist could bring the series to the next level.

HOGWARTS LEGACY

As a child some of us may have these obnoxious dreams of joining the Justice League, of wielding a lightsaber, or studying at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You can fulfill these dreams through video games by playing DC Universe Online, playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, or playing any of the Harry Potter games.

However, most of the Harry Potter games are centered on the movies where you only control the characters written by J.K. Rowling. There were attempts to incorporate some RPG elements where the player can freely choose his own avatar but ultimately these attempts failed as the games that featured these mechanics were lambasted.

Hogwarts Legacy could finally be the game that will allow the player to ignore his mudblood roots and fully flesh out the inner wizard in him. Players will be given the opportunity to create their own character and brew potions like Professor Snape, cast spells like an expert auror, or tame magical creatures like Newt Scamander. The freedom to choose your desired role in the wizarding world will bring a sparkplug of joy that will make the player immune from the effects of dementors.

Perhaps this could signal a time where being a student at Hogwarts is no longer limited in a restaurant setting where chopsticks become magic wands.

CYBERPUNK 2077

If Michaelangelo's attention to detail brought him to the annals of history, perhaps the same can be said with CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077. The release of their marketing materials reveal Keanu Reeves with his signature beard and cheekbones, capturing every specific facial aspect.

However the graphics aren't the only ones that are highlighted as the setting which occurs in a dystopian American gang war setting could raise some eyebrows. The synopsis of the plot could offer a satirical or philosophical discussion about corporations and technology that might revolutionize the art of storytelling in video games.

Even the gameplay mechanics are enticing especially with the introduction of hacking and other insane mumbo jumbo science fiction elements. The makers of the Witcher series could have another hit in their hands.

SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES

Marvel's Spider-Man was heavily praised by critics for its action packed gameplay and an emotional story arc featuring most of the prominent characters in comics such as Dr. Octopus, Norman Osborn, and Miles Morales. It was considered by many not only as Marvel's greatest video game but also as one of the best superhero games of all time. In fact many compared Marvel's Spider-Man with its DC counterpart, the Batman Arkham series, specifically the first two entries in the series, for delivering a masterclass in the superhero genre.

With the arrival of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, fans are expecting a sequel that could further enhance Marvel's reputation in the industry especially after witnessing the disaster displayed by Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers. Spider-Man is known in the comic book and movie industry for being one of the most relatable characters and he's also distinguished for his relationships with his rogue's gallery and side characters in the Marvel Universe that the game could further explore. Given the depth from the characters in Spider-Man's pop culture craze, fans will anticipate a story that could burden the hearts of many.

This could also be an opportunity for Marvel to address the criticisms surrounding their decision to introduce Miles Morales.

ASSASSIN'S CREED: VALHALLA

The Assassin's Creed franchise is known to replace the textbook in narrating the stories in world history as they've traversed multiple eras introducing history's most influential figures like George Washington, Leonardo da Vinci, Blackbeard, a young Napoleon Bonaparte, Winston Churchill in his 1st World War days, and the list goes on. Given the magnitude of iconic moments found in world history comes an opportunity for Ubisoft to keep the franchise running until the end of time.

And this opportunity is highly evident with latest entry's setting on the Viking invasion of Anglo-Saxon territories. Since this is based in the early years of the Medieval period where civilizations are still reeling from the effects of the Dark Ages, expect an emphasis on a gloomy atmosphere heightened by uncivilized bloodshed.

Valhalla even features Los Angeles Dodgers star Cody Bellinger as an axe swinging berserker.

The series is known to marvel fans with their open world experience and the expectations have already been set since the day Ubisoft started the franchise during the Crusades.
