The ongoing beef between hip-hop/R&B artists Azealia Banks and Tinashe appears to be reaching new heights. So much so, that the good name of the NBA has been unceremoniously dragged into the drama. In particular, it's the hardworking team dancers (aka cheerleaders) who have been pit into the war of words between these two renowned artists.

It was Azealia throwing shade this time around, as the Harlem, New York-based rapper used the image of an NBA cheerleader as a derogatory term to diss Tinashe.

Azealia Banks, Tinashe

As indicated in the rather lengthy message posted by Azaelia on her Instagram stories (not as long as Kyrie Irving's recent social media parable, though) she is calling out Tinashe for basically trying too hard. In Azalia's mind, Tinashe's music is not creative or unique enough to be considered as “game-changing” in the genre. She even took a shot at Tinashe's image, saying that the latter exudes an NBA cheerleader type of vibe.

While we think we're getting a bit of an idea of what Azaelia is trying to say here, it's just unfair to use the stereotype of NBA cheerleaders in such a negative tone. They are, after all, artists in their own respect, so to put them in a bad light is not very respectful of Azaelia.

There's probably going to be more developments in this narrative, but we're likely going to stop with our extremely brief coverage with this single article, as we get back to more relevant NBA news very soon.
