After a controversial finish in the Oklahoma City Thunder 97-95 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, many people wanted answers as to why superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn't ruled out of bounds on the Bucks' final possession.

According to a tweet from Thunder beat writer Erik Horne of The Oklahoman, it was brought to attention that this was also the same crew who missed a few key calls down the stretch of the Christmas Day game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.

Clearly, after the replay was shown on the jumbotron, Giannis should have been whistled out of bounds. However, in a post to Twitter by the NBA's league office on officiating and rule clarifications, crew chief Derrick Stafford offered an explanation to pool reporter Brett Dawson of The Oklahoman.

“In any reviewable matter, there has to be a whistle called on the floor. There was no whistle blown for the play, so we couldn't review it,” Stafford said.

Wood, who was the No. 10 overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft and played for six NBA teams in six seasons, was the official who had the best look at the play but still did not blow his whistle.

Russell Westbrook, who drained a three-pointer with 4.7 seconds left to tie the game at 95-95 apiece, tried to contest the Giannis dunk at the end but was unsuccessful. Westbrook finished the game just shy of a triple-double with a whopping 40 points on 16-of-34 shooting, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.
