Anthony Edwards has been playing at an incredible level this season. In just his second season, the Minnesota Timberwolves star is emerging as a potentially great player. His incredible offensive firepower, as well as a developing defensive identity, makes him one of the hottest young stars in the NBA today.

Which is why it was surprising when Anthony Edwards was not selected to be an All-Star this season. Speaking to reporters, the Timberwolves star made it clear he wasn't surprised when he was snubbed, since it felt similar to his situation last year regarding the Rookie of the Year race (via Dane Moore)

“It's the same as the Rookie of the Year, man. I don't never expect to be selected, because it never happens. I was surprised I was selected for the Rising Stars game, if I'm being honest.”

Being surprised for being selected to the Rising Stars game shouldn't come as a surprise for Ant and the Timberwolves. The former first overall pick has been excellent this season: 22.1 points per game on 44/36/81 shooting splits, along 5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He is easily one of the best young prospects in the NBA today.

The Timberwolves weren't exactly snubbed of an All-Star spot, thankfully. Karl-Anthony Towns, another first overall pick, got selected into the game, and Anthony Edwards and the whole team was excited for him. Considering their improbable run to a playoff spot this season, fans certainly are hoping that Edwards will be considered as a replacement for the injured Draymond Green.
