The Minnesota Timberwolves sit right in the middle of the Western Conference with a winning record of 31-28. They are headed into the All-Star break and don’t play again until February 24 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards spoke to the media ahead of the NBA’s Clorox Rising Stars tournament on Friday.

When he was asked about his and LaMelo Ball becoming the faces of the league, the Timberwolves star said it was “incredible.” He said that he spoke with LaMelo recently and told him to “Keep balling, bro. Keep doing you.” Edwards said that he enjoys seeing LaMelo, as well as other members of their draft class, do well.

The Timberwolves small forward was the first pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, a class that he said was underestimated. LaMelo was selected by the Charlotte Hornets third overall.

Edwards told the media Friday afternoon that he loves seeing others in his draft class prove the doubters wrong.

“Everybody in my draft class, I’m just happy to see them being successful in the league because of how much they had to say bad about us.”

To Timberwolves’ fans chagrin, Edwards will not be participating in the Slam Dunk Contest, but he will still play a role in the weekend’s talent exhibitions.

Both Edwards and Ball are in the Rising Stars tournament as a part of the 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend. LaMelo is also listed as a reserve for Team Durant’s All-Star Game team.

Isaac Okoro, the fifth pick, and Tyrese Maxey, the 21st pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, will also participate in the Rising Stars Tournament.
