Anthony Edwards put on a show for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday as they took down LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, 124-104, in what turned out to be a testy matchup. As usual, Edwards was one of the top performers for his team as he helped lead the Wolves to an easy victory over a hapless LA side.

After the game, Edwards opened up about going toe-to-toe against LeBron. By his own admission, the 20-year-old revealed that his eyes light up whenever he gets a chance to go against the top players in the NBA today. Aside from LeBron, Edwards also singled out Kevin Durant as another GOAT that he has set his sights on, so to speak:

“Any time I see one of those GOATs in front of me, I’m trying to go at them,” Edwards revealed, via Timberwolves beat writer Dane Moore. “Every time. I’m not passing. That’s what’s in my mind. Every time I see a LeBron, Kevin Durant, everybody in that category, I’m trying to go at them.”

One thing you can say with utmost certainty about Anthony Edwards is that he is never short in confidence. Despite being just on his second season in the league, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard is already calling out the greats in the game. There is clearly a high level of respect from Ant, but in his own unique way, the best way to exhibit this is by going at them at full speed whenever he gets the opportunity.

This is exactly what Edwards did on Wednesday, dropping 27 points all over LeBron and Co. The Timberwolves star went 8-of-21 from the field and 6-of-11 from distance to go along with six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block in 32 minutes of action. The Lakers simply had no answer for Edwards on the evening. The same was the case for the red-hot Karl-Anthony Towns, who logged a game-high 30 points against LA.

Incidentally, the Timberwolves return to action on Saturday to face off against the defending champs Milwaukee Bucks. You can bet that Edwards will be taking aim at another all-time great in Giannis Antetokounmpo during Saturday's clash. Expect fireworks.
