Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau isn't easy to impress, and knowing that made Derrick Rose do a double-take when hearing his coach praise his adaptation to a bench role and feeling comfortable with this core.

The former Chicago Bulls point guard noted his coach rarely give out compliments, even not giving one after winning the MVP award in 2010-11.

“It's crazy to hear him say that,” said Rose. “That shows that I believe in myself. I know that because I know just how much I put into everything, but to hear him say that… this is the same guy whom I didn't get no compliment after I won MVP on my third year.”

“To hear him say that it means a lot, it's something I will cherish because I know what type of person he is as an individual. He's a tough guy.”

This doesn't seem surprising for a coach that has been repeatedly seen yelling at his players, and while he's dialed back a lot more since his days with the Bulls — it looks to be yet another classic Thibs-ism.

Hopefully there will be some sort of compliments for his players if his team reaches the playoffs, though “the job is not done” sounds a lot more likely coming from a no-nonsense kind of coach.
