Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns was outstanding yet again on Thursday in a 122-115 defeat against the Indiana Pacers.

While he was ultimately unable to carry his team to a victory, Towns' 42-point, 17-rebound, three three-pointer performance against the Pacers allowed him to achieve a never-before-accomplished feat in the history of the league. This according to NBA stats guru Justin Kubatko:

Following an unfortunate car accident that forced him to miss his team's first two games following the All-Star break, Towns has been on an absolute tear over the past week.

On Wednesday, Towns dropped 37 points, 18 rebounds, and five three-pointers against the Atlanta Hawks. This was preceded by another astounding effort on Monday against the Sacramento Kings as he logged 34 points, 21 rebounds, and three three-pointers in that one.

On the season, the extremely durable Towns is currently averaging 23.9 points (on 51.8 percent shooting), 1.9 three-pointers, 12.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.9 steals, 1.8 blocks, and 2.9 turnovers in 33.3 minutes of action. He may not be in the MVP conversation this season, but his outstanding play should be worthy of an All-NBA nod.

Despite Towns' efforts, though, the Wolves are still on the outside looking in with a 29-33 record. They are currently four and a half games outside the playoff picture in the Western Conference, and with just 20 games remaining, the chances of Minnesota making a second consecutive trip to the postseason is becoming more and more improbable after each loss.
