The Minnesota Timberwolves have claimed former Los Angeles Clippers guard Tyrone Wallace off free agency waivers, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Wallace, 25, was an innocent casualty of Los Angeles' quick offseason reload following the free agent signing of two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and trading for Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George.

The 6-foot-5 point guard was drafted with the last pick in the 2016 NBA Draft after a four-year collegiate career in the Pac-12 for the University of California, Berkeley.

Wallace went unsigned after the Utah Jazz selected him with the 60th overall pick and later agreed to a two-way contract with the Clippers. After the contract's expiration, LA signed Wallace again in August 2017 and then again in September 2018.

He has appeared in 92 total games across two seasons in the NBA, averaging 5.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 16.1 minutes per game while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor, 23.7 percent from 3-point range and 67.4 percent from the free throw line.

It's been a busy offseason for the Timberwolves, first starting with their draft night acquisition of Texas Tech swingman Jarrett Culver via trading the no. 11 pick and forward Dario Saric to the Phoenix Suns. Since then, Minnesota has signed free agent center Jordan Bell, big man Noah Vonleh and forward Jake Layman.

The Timberwolves have also been rumored to be interested in former MVP Russell Westbrook, currently being shopped by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
