The NBA fined Minnesota Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley $30,000 “for inappropriate statements during a media interview and on social media, including the egregious use of profanity,” the league announced Thursday.

Beverley was all fired up after the Timberwolves beat his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers, in Tuesday's play-in game. The victory secured a spot for Minnesota in the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The veteran guard burst into celebration after the win and kept going during his media session and on social media:

The NBA evidently didn't take too kindly to this, so they decided to fine the Timberwolves guard. Patrick Beverley will surely think this is $30,000 well spent after the huge win over the Clippers.

Beverley's antics after the win drew plenty of jokes and condemnation for excessive celebration, but there were also plenty of people who fully understood where he was coming from. Beating his former team after they traded him had to feel great, and this Timberwolves franchise hasn't had much to cheer about since the Kevin Garnett days. This is Minnesota's first playoff appearance since 2018, which featured a quick exit against the Houston Rockets.

Beverley and the Timberwolves will now turn their attention to Ja Morant and the Grizzlies. Beverley will do his best to make life hell for Morant in this series, and he'll surely be chirping as he goes. This should be a fun series with the potential for fireworks, with Beverley likely in the middle of it all.
