Rather than going outside the franchise to find the team's next offensive play-caller, the Tennessee Titans ultimately decided to keep their offensive coordinator hire in house. Forced to replace current Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LeFleur this offseason, the Titans elected to go with a promotion in the end with the team's former tight ends coach, Arthur Smith, becoming Tennessee's next offensive coordinator.

Upon being formally introduced as the team's next offensive coordinator, Smith immediately made a point to acknowledge the presence of running back Derrick Henry.

“Derrick is going to be a big part of our offense,” Smith said, via the team's official website. “Derrick has a rare skill set – he’s a home run hitter. And we’re taking another step hopefully with him. What he did the last five weeks will open up a lot of things. … Derrick will be a big part of our offense.”

Henry, of course, finished the 2018-19 campaign on a tear en route to producing a total of 1,059 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns on just 215 attempts.

“I like this system a lot,” Smith added about the team's offense in general. “This offense, there’s a lot of different variations, but at its core I’m a big fan of it. … The first offense I ever coached in was similar to this. I’m a big fan of this offense, and it’s kind of the third time I’ve been in it.”

However, despite Henry's stretch of success to end 2018-19, the Titans were unable to return to the postseason.
