Tom Brady is a household name in the sporting world. The 42-year-old has had a long and illustrious career in the NFL, making it to the Pro Bowl 14 times, being the league's MVP three times and bringing home six Super Bowl trophies all in his 20-year stint with the New England Patriots.

Brady decided to depart New England and sign a two-year, $50 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to start a new chapter in his professional career, and likely his final chapter. So, after two decades of football, a handful of trophies, a bunch of off-field projects and a couple of multi-million dollar contracts, how much is Tom Brady worth?

Nothing much … just a whopping $180 million.

Contracts and salaries

Tom Brady entered the league in 2000 as the 199th pick of the draft. He was the seventh quarterback to be picked that year and fell in the hands of the Patriots in the sixth round. The California native didn't take long to prove he was worth his three-year, $864,000 rookie contract.

After winning the Super Bowl in his sophomore year, the Patriots immediately renegotiated with Brady and signed him to a four-year, $29.6 million contract. The big bucks continued to pile up for Brady from then on. He would go on to rake in a total of $235 million in salary and bonuses during his 20-year stay in New England.

Brady was actually known to take cuts throughout his career to aid the franchise with salary cap concerns. In his last season for the Patriots, Brady's salary was just $23 million, which ranked him 13th among the NFL quarterbacks in 2019.

Even after all that, Brady's on-field earnings with the Patriots still placed him No. 2 among active NFL players behind only Drew Brees, who sits at $245 million. This doesn't include all his championship bonuses and Super Bowl rings, which could easily sell at $250,000 per ring. Not that he needs to sell them.

Off-field earnings

Although Tom Brady has been quite picky with his off-field partnerships and endorsements throughout his career, being the top dog in football will still land you the big bucks. The six-time Super Bowl champion has locked in multi-year deals with big brands like Aston Martin, IWC and, of course, Under Armour. He's also an endorser of Upper Deck, Foot Locker and Ugg. Brady also invested in mattress startup Molecule in 2018. It was reported that Brady earned a total of $14 million in endorsements in 2019.

Apart from these partnerships, Brady has also launched a couple of personal projects. In 2016, Brady launched his lifestyle brand TB12, which sells different sporting merchandise, equipment and snacks. In 2020, Brady also announced his new production company called 199 Productions. His first film, “Unseen Football,” is currently being produced in partnership with “Avengers” directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

All these multi-million dollar contracts, endorsements and investments landed Brady at the No. 81 spot of Forbes' highest-paid athletes list in 2019, earning a total of $27 million last year. Brady and his wife, model Gisele Bündchen, have also earned quite a lot in real estate, buying and selling different properties across the US.

Speaking of Gisele, it has been reported that her current net worth is at $400 million, which makes the power couple worth just around $580 million.
