Former Oregon Ducks running back Travis Dye has now opted to join the USC Trojans as a graduate transfer.

Dye shined during his four-season run in Oregon. The versatile back totaled for 3,980 yards from scrimmage and 29 total touchdowns in 48 games played.

Over the 2021 campaign, Dye saw an increase in snaps played after starting running back CJ Verdell was sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a leg injury suffered during the Ducks’ road loss to Stanford. Dye stepped up to the plate with career highs across the board, including in total touchdowns (18). He rose to the occasion in what turned out to be his final game with the Ducks in the 2021 Alamo Bowl, as he notched 181 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown in the 47-32 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Dye had just entered the transfer portal last Friday. Now, he has joined a multitude of other promising talents who also transferred to USC following head coach Lincoln Riley's arrival at the program. For one, now-former Stanford running back Austin Jones elected to transfer to USC earlier in the week. He finished with 1,694 yards from scrimmage and 13 total touchdowns over his three-season run in Stanford.

Both Dye and Jones are expected to compete with the likes of Brandon Campbell and Darwin Barlow for USC's starting running back job next season. Keaontay Ingram led the Trojans’ ground attack last season with 911 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, but he declared for the 2022 NFL Draft earlier in the month.

As with the Trojans, the Ducks are also expected to see quite a bit of turnaround at the running back position. If Verdell ends up officially declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft, new Ducks head coach Dan Lanning will then have running backs Byron Cardwell, Seven McGee and Sean Dollars as his main options to lead the team's rushing attack next season.

In the upcoming 2022 season, the Trojans will look to bounce back from their 4-8 campaign, while the Ducks aim for a fourth consecutive appearance in the Pac-12 championship game.
