Injury concerns have been the Minnesota Twins main problem so far in 2022. Other than that, things have gone rather swimmingly. They have received impressive performances from unprecedented players and Minnesota currently leads the AL Central. However, there has been criticism in regards to the way the Twins have handled superstar Byron Buxton.

Buxton has the potential to be MLB's best player. However, his issue has been health over the past few years. Minnesota has taken an extremely conservative approach with Buxton's playing time early in the season. They want to ensure that he will be ready to roll down the stretch.

Carlos Correa has dealt with injury problems as well this season. The star shortstop is expected to return from the injured list against the A's on Tuesday night. And he has a strong message for any critics of the Twins' Byron Buxton injury prevention plan.

“They probably don't know the game of baseball,” Correa remarked. “He wants to be out there every day. When he's on the field, he's been performing at the highest of levels. He has 11 homers already. When you look at Byron and his knees, this early in the year, that's something you've got to be careful with. And you've got to take the necessary precautions in order for him to stay on the field. I'd rather have him for 120 [games] of a full season than have him for 50 because he's trying to do too much.”

Carlos Correa and the Twins want Buxton healthy for a potential postseason run. If it means missing a few extra early season games then so be it. The MLB world wants to see one of the best players in the game remain healthy as well.
