Wednesday was a special night for FC Dallas and USMNT starlet Ricardo Pepi, who played a massive part in the Americans' 4-1 thrashing of Honduras in World Cup Qualifying. It was the perfect send-off before the next set of fixtures in October as the US now has five points through three games following back-t0-back draws with El Salvador and Canada.

The Dallas youngster put on an attacking display, scoring once and supplying two assists in the victory. In fact, Pepi had a hand directly in all four of the US goals. He spoke on the masterclass performance post-match, via Goal:

“I was prepared for the moment,” Pepi said. “I've been training, just preparing with the team. I feel like I was out there with the guys getting ready for this game so I was ready.”

Pepi looked extremely comfortable with the USMNT, serving as a key component in the final third for the entire 90 minutes. The 18-year-old is already one of the most clinical finishers in the MLS, already firing home 11 goals in 21 appearances this season. He even bagged the winning spot-kick in the MLS All-Star Game.

The USMNT is young, but they're full of talent and Pepi is proving to be an important piece. It surely won't be long until a European club snatches him up, but for now, FC Dallas will be pleased their talisman is shining for his country as the US continues to fight for a spot in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
