Minnesota Vikings second-year cornerback Holton Hill has been suspended an additional four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Hill, 22, was issued a preliminary four-game suspension in April for violating the NFL's performance enhancement substances policy.

The Vikings signed the 6-foot-2 defensive back as an undrafted free agent in 2018 following a three-year collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns. In the Big 12, Hill made five interceptions between his freshman and junior seasons with Texas including 122 total tackles.

Holton Hill appeared in each of Minnesota's 16 games during his rookie season in 2018. He made one interception, logged 36 tackles, and recorded one tackle for a loss.

Having shown promise going into his second season in the league, Hill will now have to be sidelined for half the year. The Vikings' secondary will lose another piece in the defense—a defense that gave up the fourth-least number of yards to opposing offenses last year. Minnesota also has 22-year-old second-year cornerback Mike Hughes returning from torn ACL surgery, an injury the 2018 first-round selection suffered in the team's Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Last year's impressive Vikings defense also gave up the the ninth-fewest points in the 2018 season, at 341. It allowed the fourth-lowest number of passing completions, and the sixth-worst completion percentage.

Minnesota selected Wyoming safety Marcus Epps, 23, in the sixth round of the 2019 draft, and Texas cornerback Kris Boyd with its seventh-round pick.
