This past season, the Minnesota Vikings had one of the NFL's best receiving tandems in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Now, one half of that duo is gone.

The Vikings traded Diggs to the Buffalo Bills for a haul of draft picks last month, meaning that quarterback Kirk Cousins is now somewhat short on weapons in Minnesota.

However, Cousins understands the business side of the league, and he wishes Diggs nothing but the best in Buffalo. According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com, Cousins said on Tuesday:

“It's a unique dynamic. It became apparent that he wanted to play elsewhere, and I think it was smart of the Vikings to grant him that opportunity … I think it wasn't a mystery, and that's okay. I wish him really well. I just so enjoyed playing with him. He's a special player, and we now have to find a way to move forward and replace that, if you will, with a variety of players.”

Diggs is coming off of a terrific 2019 campaign in which he played 15 games and hauled in 63 receptions for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Maryland, was originally selected by the Vikings in the fifth round (146th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He was a very consistent threat for Minnesota over his first three seasons, but he didn't really break out until 2018, when he caught 102 passes for 1,021 yards and nine scores.

Diggs has never made a Pro Bowl, but there is no doubting his standing among the better wide receivers in football.
