Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was ruled out for the team's Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears, though it should be noted that he didn't suffer any setback.

In fact according to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Thielen was actually close to playing in their Monday Night Football showdown with the Bears after recovering from his ankle injury. However, the Vikings decided to give him more rest as they prepare to take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16.

Adam Thielen was initially listed as questionable for the game after missing their Week 14 contest with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran wideout suffered the injury earlier in the month against the Detroit Lions, and he has been bothered by it ever since.

While the Vikings could certainly use Thielen's help against the Bears as they try to keep their postseason hopes alive, they know very well they cannot risk injuring him and losing his services once again.

Having won their last game and previously beating the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota also seems confident they can handle the hapless Bears. With that, it is likely they decided to rest Thielen so he'll be fully recovered when they take on a strong Rams team that is vying for the top spot in their own division as well.

Hopefully though, an extra week to heal and recover is enough for the 31-year-old wideout to be at full strength come Week 16 when the Vikings need him the most.
