There is now major doubt that the Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins may be without a key offensive weapon for the upcoming road matchup against the Chicago Bears.

The Vikings have officially listed an injury designation of questionable on wide receiver Adam Thielen for Week 15 due to his ankle issue.

Thielen has been sidelined as of late due to a high-ankle sprain injury suffered in the first quarter of the Vikings' upset road loss to the Detroit Lions. The veteran wideout sustained the injury after he was tackled by Lions defensive back Jerry Jacobs on a screen pass. He was initially listed as questionable to return, but the team elected to keep him out for the remainder of the game.

As the Vikings had a quick turnaround for Week 14 with their Thursday Night Football clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Mike Zimmer opted to rule Thielen out for the game. He held him out of each of the team's scheduled practice sessions ahead of the contest due to his nagging ankle issue.

On Wednesday, Zimmer provided some optimism towards Thielen’s possible availability for Week 15 against the Bears, as he noted he is “hopeful” that the wideout will be able to suit up for the contest.

Vikings offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak also shared these sentiments on Friday.

“I know Adam is doing everything he can to get ready to play,” Kubiak said. “He had a tough injury, but he's doing everything the trainers are asking him to do. We're going to be smart with him, but obviously if he's ready to go we're going to have a plan for him.”

If Thielen ends up being sidelined for the second straight game, other wideouts on the roster will have to step up in his absence come Monday night. Vikings wide receiver K.J. Osborn did just that against the Steelers, as he recorded three receptions for 83 receiving yards in the 38-26 win.

The Vikings currently hold the No. 8 seed in the NFC playoff picture.
