The Minnesota Vikings are set to hit the road to take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round. It seems they are hoping that wide receiver Stefon Diggs will be back to full health before then.

According to Chad Graff of The Athletic, he missed his second straight day of practice due to illness:

Just as the Vikings’ offense seemed it was getting healthy, Stefon Diggs isn’t at a second straight Vikings practice. He missed yesterday’s session because of an illness.

This is hardly an encouraging update regarding Diggs' status. It is safe to say that the timing of the illness is hardly ideal with their upcoming business trip to San Francisco. Regardless, it is clear that Minnesota will be taking a cautious approach with his recovery.

Diggs was unable to make his presence felt during the 26-20 win over the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Wild Card after hauling in a mere two receptions for 19 yards. It became evident that he was not pleased with his lack of involvement in the offense during such a pivotal part of the 2019 NFL season.

Despite Diggs' lack of production in the first round, the Vikings will need him to play an integral role in the passing game this time around if they hope to pull off another upset against the 49ers.

Although Stefon Diggs may dealing with an illness, it is far-fetched to assume his status for this week is in any danger. Minnesota will need to be at full strength in order to put some points up on this formidable defense in San Francisco.
