Nike is set to release Kevin Durant’s new signature shoe, the KD10 “Numbers,” and it will be a historic one. Per Uproxx.com, the Numbers will have the distinction of being the first ever Nike signature basketball sneaker to feature a team’s logo.

The Numbers, which will be released on October 1, will feature the Golden State Warriors’ logo on its tongue tab and the bottom of the outsole. Meanwhile, the shoe’s inside lining will be colored with the Warrior’s famous blue and gold.

While it’s quite the honor for Nike to pick Durant’s shoes as the first to feature this new wrinkle, it’s also very likely another calculated move on the company’s part.

Kevin Durant, of course, is teammates with Stephen Curry, who is the face of one of Nike’s top competitors, Under Armour. Durant's arrival to the Warriors last season already weakened Curry's grip on the sneaker game.

And by placing the Golden State logo on Durant's signature shoe, Nike is just continuing its ongoing campaign to undermine Curry’s position as the face of the Warriors. That’s some next-level sneaker wars strategery right there.
