Andre Iguodala isn't exactly the most beloved man in Memphis. The Golden State Warriors veteran was traded to the Grizzlies but spurned them entirely with an understanding that he would eventually be bought out and latch onto a contender

Iguodala instead sat out the season, refusing to assimilate to a Grizzlies roster he didn't plan on being a part of before eventually getting traded to the 2020 Finals-bound Miami Heat.

The Warriors vet made his return to the lineup in the team's trip to Memphis. It's no surprise that he was met with heavy boos to commemorate his sordid stay with the team.

But if you ask Andre Iguodala himself, he'll tell you the fans might not be thinking critically for themselves. The Warriors mainstay called out the wealthy elite who handle the media for creating the narrative, one he claims fans are simply buying into about what really happened during his stint with the Grizzlies.

Via Grant Marek of SFGate:

“This is my second time playing here,” Iguodala said after Monday's loss in Memphis. “I think that's just part of how sports and fans have become. They are more into the games with their emotions and feelings and obviously the narrative that can be driven, especially from those that are of wealth that control the media and are in ownership position. They can kinda control the narrative of how it goes out there. I'm understanding that the true story isn't always going to get out there. You deal with it and move forward.”

Andre Iguodala didn't go into detail about what really happened behind closed doors, and it doesn't sound like he intends to. But it's clear that the Warriors veteran believes his perspective on what went down is vastly different from what news outlets and Grizzlies fans latched onto.
