Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is progressing nicely in his recovery from back injury. However, there is still no timetable for his return since things could instantly change in just a snap of the fingers.

Green admitted as much after participating in his first team practice since early January on Saturday, emphasizing that his return date or even range is not set. According to him, while he can feel good about his conditioning, the reality can be far from expectations.

“I'm trying to stick to as fast as I can possibly get back,” Green said, per ESPN. “From where I am, you feel like it's three weeks or so, but it could be five weeks or so. … It's no set thing.

“In a week and a half, it could be like my conditioning is at a level, my strength is at a level, my explosiveness is at a level where you can go back out there.”

Warriors  head coach Steve Kerr said after Saturday's practice that Draymond Green took a “positive step” in his return, bringing the same energy as usual and looking good physically despite his back injury. It is also worth noting that Green was putting up shots and doing highly physical drills, which suggest that his issue is no longer as bad as it was before.

As mentioned, though, it is still unclear when he'll return. Of course the Warriors can't rush him back as well since back injuries can be tricky and he might be sidelined far longer if he reinjures it when he returns. The Dubs simply can't afford to take that risk this close to the postseason, when they will need their defensive guru even more.

For his part, Green reiterated his plan to return at some point before the postseason. He knows he needs that time to shake off the rust and gear up for the playoffs, so whether that will be 15 games or five games before the Warriors head to next round, he'll take it and make the most out of it.

“Like I said, as soon as I feel like I'm whole and can get back out there and get my feet back under me before the playoffs, great. If that's 15 games, fantastic. If it's 10, I'll make do. If it's five, then five is going to have to work,” Green added.

Warriors fans will be hoping that it's the former than the latter. But hey, as long as Dray gets back healthy and ready to contribute, Dubs fans will be happy about it.
