Basketball superstar LeBron James is sending out a message to the Ohio State football team, following the reveal of the new EA Sports college football video game. James is showing his love for the Buckeyes in a social media post on X.
“LET’S GOOOOOOO!!!!!!” James posted, which can be found here. James grew up in Ohio and has cheered on the Buckeyes for several years. He's making it clear what team he will be playing with when he purchases the new game, titled College Football 2025.
What is EA College Football?
EA Sports is a company that designs sports video games. Its latest work College Football 2025 is coming out in July, the company announced. EA released a trailer, showcasing cutting-edge graphics and camera work. The viewer will surely feel as if they are right in the middle of the action when they play the game. The trailer shows players preparing for games, entering the football stadium, as well as on-the-field action including rushing and passing plays.
The game required a Herculean effort to design. More than 10,000 athletes had to be created in order to make the actual game, per CBS Sports. In the game, teams and players are usually ranked according to a numerical system from 0-99. Georgia and Ohio State football are among the teams reported to be the highest-ranked, per CBS Sports. That is surely music to James' ears. Rounding out the top five in team rankings are reportedly Oregon, Texas and Alabama.
EA College Football is making a welcome return to many college football fans. The game hasn't been made for several years, after once being manufactured before every college football season. EA Sports senior vice president Daryl Holt says he was asked once at a bookstore when the game was returning, due to its popularity.
“I think I even said, ‘I don't know, but maybe sooner than you think,'” Holt said, per ESPN. “And it kind of gave me that little extra push that I know that there were people that wanted this game to come back as much as I did, more so than I did.”
LeBron's love for Ohio State football
Even though he grew up in Akron, James has shown love for Ohio State football over the years. James didn't play basketball in college, but he frequently posts on social media about college sports. James wears Ohio State football gear and travels to Columbus at times to watch games.
EA must surely be happy that they have an advocate for their new game in James. The basketball superstar also once played football, as a youngster. James was a wide receiver on his high school football team at St. Vincent-St. Mary's in Ohio. He was recruited by Notre Dame to play football, per the Daily Mail UK. It will be interesting to see what James' reaction is when he gets to start playing the new EA game.
