Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has a sore knee and will not play Friday when the Warriors take on the Sacramento Kings for the final game at Seattle's KeyArena. Green underwent an MRI and the results showed no structural damage.

Green told the Warriors he had a sore knee after a team scrimmage on Monday. The three-time All-Star played 20 minutes in Golden State's preseason opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves and finished with two points, four rebounds and eight assists.

The 28-year-old Green, regarded as one of the best defenders and glue guys in the NBA, played in 70 regular-season games last season and averaged 11.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. He shot 45.4 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from beyond the arc and 77.5 percent from the free-throw line. Green and the Warriors won their second straight championship over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 NBA Finals.

If this was the regular season or playoffs, Green is probably playing. He's one of the toughest players in the league and loves to compete. The Warriors are playing it safe since it is the preseason. It gives head coach Steve Kerr and his staff a chance to play some other guys on the team and see what they have to offer.

Green has two years left on his contract. He will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020.
