Most coaches need several regular season games before they come up with a starting five they'll field for the rest of the year. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr initially wanted his team to play at least 20 matches before he can firm up his starting five, but in a recent admission, he does not have any plans of changing his starters primarily due to defensive concerns.

The Warriors' starting lineup comprises of Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr., Draymond Green and James Wiseman. According to Kerr, setting up their defense early in is key snd his current lineup has been up for the job so far.

“I'm not making any changes to the starting lineup, there could be changes rotationally, pairings that sort of thing, we might try some different groups together during the game, but I think the biggest thing that we've been trying to do is build our defense from the beginning,” the Warriors coach told reporters Sunday, per Alex Didion of NBC Sports. “If you can't defend you have no chance, if you can defend then you got a chance in every game, so we're trying to put our length and athleticism out there defensively with Kelly (Oubre) and Andrew (Wiggins) and obviously James (Wiseman).”

Statistics reveal that the Warriors have a defensive rating of 110.2 (19th place) through the first 12 games of the season. Wiggins, too, has been raising eyebrows for his improved defense. He's among the NBA's top 10 in blocked shots per game and has been one of the top defenders based on some advanced statistics.

Steve Kerr also noted that nothing is etched in stone as they also have to work on their offense. Be as it may, the Warriors seems to be figuring out some things with his relatively new roster.
