Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II is keeping a positive mindset amid his latest injury that could keep him out for the rest of the Western Conference Semifinals.

Payton sustained a left elbow fracture early in the first quarter of their Game 2 showdown with the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday after he was fouled hard by Brandon Clarke. With the Young Glove airborne after finding a clear path to the basket, the Memphis forward came from behind and hit him in the head.

It led to a hard fall for Payton, who eventually excited the floor and ruled out for the rest of the contest. On Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic further revealed that there is a slight ligament damage alongside the fractured elbow of the Warriors vet that will keep him out for the next three weeks.

Fortunately, there is a chance for Gary Payton II to return in the 2022 playoffs if the Warriors go deep. And sure enough, the 29-year-old is not giving up hope that he'll be back in no time.

On Instagram, he thanked Warriors fans and everyone who has shown him support while vowing to come back sooner rather than later.

“Appreciate the love. It's good. I'll be back,” Payton wrote.

Here's to hoping that the Warriors will be able to go deeper and reach the NBA Finals. No one wants to see Payton's season end with an injury, especially after all the work he put in to reach where he is today.
