The Golden State Warriors enjoyed a huge Christmas Day win against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, but not all is well for the squad after the big victory. Star forward Draymond Green has reportedly entered the NBA's health and safety protocols on Sunday, per NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.

This is obviously a huge blow for the Warriors, as Green is their top defensive option and a key contributor in virtually every facet of their game plan. Green is just the latest of a handful of Warriors players to enter the league's COVID-19 protocols, joining Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Moses Moody, and Damion Lee, all of whom were sidelined for the Christmas Day game.

Green will likely be unavailable for the Warriors' next assignment which is slated for Tuesday, December 28, a home game against the Denver Nuggets. His next chance to play after that would come on December 30, also against the Nuggets, but this time on the road. After that, the Warriors visit the Utah Jazz on New Year's Day and return home on January 3 for a matchup with the Miami Heat.

They have a tough upcoming schedule, so it's a very inopportune time to lose Green to the league's protocols. On the year, Green has averaged 8.4 points alongside 7.9 rebounds and 7.5 assists, both of which are team-highs. He's averaging 30.6 minutes per game for the Warriors and has featured in 31 games, helping them achieve the top spot in the Western Conference at 27-6.
