Klay Thompson is officially back to the Golden State Warriors! And what better way to mark this memorable day with his first bucket after being sidelined for 941 days without NBA basketball?

Thompson drained his first NBA basket of the season–and first in more than two years–right in the first play of the Warriors in the opening quarter of Sunday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thompson didn't look like he was coming off an injury at all, aggressively attacking the basket and delivering a floater over a tough Cavs defense.

Klay Thompson's return has been highly anticipated ever since the start of the 2021-22 season. He was actually expected to return earlier, with previous rumors indicating a late November or early December return. Later on, there were high hopes he could play in the Christmas week and join the Dubs for their Christmas Day showdown, but the Warriors decided against it to give the sharpshooter more time to heal and prepare his body.

Now, Thompson is really back and scored what is hopefully the first of many more buckets to come.

For what it's worth, Klay looked to be in mid-season form already during the pregame warmups. He has shown that he never lost his shooting touch despite being sidelined for so long, but watching him do it before actually playing has a different feel to it.

Welcome back, Klay!
