Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors are right at the cusp of getting back to the mountaintop.

After two years away from the game, the Warriors star and his squad are back in the NBA Finals after dispatching the Dallas Mavericks in five games.

Thompson was emotional after the game. His time on the sidelines and unable to contribute to the team gave him a different perspective for the moment now that it's come.

“I dreamt about this like every day,” admitted the Warriors star.

“My thoughts definitely go to the surgery table. I'm very thankful for Dr. Ferkel and Dr. ElAttrache. The tedious rehab sessions. I got really in touch with music during those times because it would help me through a lot of those sessions. My appreciation for moving my body again I thought about those days when I couldn't run or jump and how lucky we are to do what we do.”

Klay Thompson first hurt himself all the way back in the 2019 NBA Finals. Given how the landscape of the league has changed drastically since then, with two newly crowned champions and now the third season dealing with the pandemic, it's been a long, winding road for the Warriors shooting guard.

“Just to be here again wearing this shirt, wearing this hat, it's inspiring for myself to keep going,” Klay Thompson asserted.

Klay Thompson expected the Warriors to get back here since Day 1. But he isn't taking any of this for granted.
