The Golden State Warriors jumped into the final portion of the season with a blowout victory against the Portland Trail Blazers. The youngest member of the Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga, was one of the many players who stood out in Thursday's game. The rookie finished the game with 17 points, eight rebounds and a dunk that made Klay Thompson call him special.

“Jon (Kuminga) is one of the best athletes I’ve ever seen at his age,” Thompson told ClutchPoints. “What is he? 20 [years old]? Seems like he has close to a 40-inch vertical and is incredibly strong and you saw that tonight. I mean, that drop-step dunk he had, that was special. Like you said, his ability to get to the free-throw line. Playing the minutes he’s playing as a rookie, it’s awesome.”

There have been many impressive moments in a very short span of time already for Kuminga, who's getting better and better each passing day. Usually younger players have to develop physically, but this Warriors rookie has it all physically. He's just learning how to play the game and is picking things up at a rapid pace.

Everyone knew Kuminga had the potential to be special, but not even the Warriors knew he would be ready this fast. In the past, Steve Kerr has said he's very comfortable with playing the rookie and plans to play him in the postseason, and this is looking like a no-brainer given his performance.

The Warriors improved their record to 43-17, giving them a 2.5-game lead over the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference standings. While the top-seeded Phoenix Suns are probably out of reach, Golden State is aiming to finish the season strong and wants to earn at least that No. 2 seed heading into the playoffs.
