SAN FRANCISCO — A few weeks ago, nobody knew if Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry would play in the first round. Not only did he suit up, but it looks like he's got his swagger back.

The two-time MVP had his way with the Denver Nuggets' defense during the Warriors' first-round victory, averaging 28 points per game in the series. He did so while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from deep.

After the Warriors closed out the Nuggets 102-98 on Thursday night, Klay Thompson expressed his admiration for his longtime teammate.

“I have so much faith in him, and the whole Dub Nation should,” Thompson told ClutchPoints. “Some of the threes he was making tonight were so incredible, and also getting to the rim, making the pocket pass. Steph Curry is a special, special player, and you'll probably never see another player like him again.”

Thompson’s playoff numbers haven't been too shabby, either. He averaged 22.6 points and shot 50.6 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from long range against Denver. Thompson made one 3-pointer in Golden State's close-out win on Wednesday night, matching the Memphis Grizzlies' Desmond Bane (22) for the most triples in the playoffs. This is Thompson’s first playoff appearance since the 2019 NBA Finals.

The Warriors jumped ahead in the series with a 3-0 lead and closed it out in 5 games. It was the team’s first series victory inside of the Chase Center. Now, Golden State is looking ahead to the second round, where it will face the winner of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies. Ja Morant and the Grizzlies lead the series 3-2.

The Warriors took care of business at home, and now they get to rest up and do some extra scouting on their next opponent.
