Klay Thompson's long-anticipated return to the Golden State Warriors is now just a few days away. He will rejoin the starting lineup of a championship favorite.

Getting reacclimated to the NBA is already motivating enough, as is helping a team with legitimate championship aspirations. Thompson has even more material to fuel his fire. After rehabilitating for so long, Golden State's five-time All-Star wants to show everyone that he is still one of the league's best players. Stephen Curry understands how Thompson is motivated by his situation.

Per Nick Freidell of ESPN:

“I'm excited to get out there and prove to people who I am,” Thompson says. “I know they forgot because I've been out for two years, but I've never been hungrier seeing that stuff. Never been hungrier. And the best way at revenge is to win. Seriously.”

That's exactly what Curry and the rest of the Warriors are banking on — and that's the message one Splash Brother had for the other.

“It's out of his control,” Curry said. “He's quickly turned it to the fuel-to-the-fire type of situation. But it's also, for him, having been away from the game for that long, he's like, ‘People forgot how good I am.' So that's his mission — remind people.”

Thompson's hunger should scare opposing teams. The Warriors getting Thompson back adds more firepower to a thriving offense and defense, which should already be intimidating enough. The motivation that Thompson and his teammates get from doubters gives Golden State an even bigger edge.

Curry and Draymond Green getting the third member of the Dubs' star trio back will give Golden State a great chance at getting back to the NBA Finals. The Warriors' second Splash Brother will debut in a home matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
