Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr did not hold back in his criticism of Dillon Brooks after the Memphis Grizzlies forward was ejected for a Flagrant 2 foul on Gary Payton II early in Game 2 on Tuesday night. Payton is now looking at a potentially season-ending injury and coach Kerr is not happy at all.

ESPN analyst Stephen A Smith has now chimed in on the raging debate as to whether or not this was a dirty play from Brooks. Kerr is adamant that it was and that Brooks “broke the code.” Smith has now doubled down on the Warriors coach's harsh words:

I feel terrible for Gary Payton II. He’s so damn important for this Warriors squad. As for Dillon Brooks, he’s no dirty player. I won’t say that. But I agree with Steve Kerr that he was very irresponsible. Very!” Smith wrote in his tweet.

Smith doesn't agree with the Warriors coach's assessment of Brooks' “dirty” play. However, Stephen A is on the same page as coach Kerr in saying that Brooks literally put Payton in danger with his hard foul. Sadly, this could spell the end of the season for Payton, which will be an undeniably huge blow for the Warriors.
