Stephen Curry gave his two cents on the appeal of a no-trade clause, as Golden State Warriors players reacted to Monday afternoon's shocking chain of events, after the L.A. Clippers traded their cornerstone player Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons in a blockbuster deal.

Curry is coming off a supermax five-year, $201 million deal with the organization, $28 million more than the one Griffin signed with the promise of remaining the franchise player in L.A. — which proved all for naught after the trade was completed yesterday.

‘You asked about the no-trade clause, I don't know how many guys actually have one right now,” said Curry, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “I think I saw Marc Stein say you have to have eight years in the league, four years on the same team. So not many guys are actually eligible for it.”

Just last year the list was short, as it was only LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Dirk Nowitzki (who later dropped the clause after re-working a team-friendly deal to stay with the team).

“It's obviously a nice perk to have, but at the end of the day there are other benefits and things that being an NBA player and getting the most out of your career, you can kind of take care of that and a no-trade clause doesn't have to be a huge priority,” added Curry. “But you have a situation like Melo last year, LeBron or whatever, then you have Blake, who has been a lifelong Clipper, hit summer for his free agency and now it's a pretty crazy turn of events.”

Even if Griffin doesn't have the promise that was once sworn to him in the offseason, his money traveled right with him, and the Pistons best believe he intends to cash every last dollar upon his next four-and-some seasons.
