The Golden State Warriors will sign Damion Lee to a standard NBA contract in the next couple of days.

As expected, the Warriors will sign Lee to an actual NBA deal — rather than the previous two-way deal he was playing under — as head coach Steve Kerr confirmed before the team's game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night.

The 27-year-old Lee is averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season. The Warriors has been a revelation during a down season for the Warriors. Golden State may have the worst record in the West, but Lee has been a revelation.

The 6-foot-6 shooting guard appeared in just 32 games with the Warriors last season. However, he's emerged as one of the top scorers on the team, ranking fourth in scoring.

The Warriors thought so much of Lee that they opted to waive veteran Marquese Chriss to open a roster spot for Lee.

“Damion has played really well for us the last couple of seasons,” Steve Kerr said after the team’s Tuesday installment of practice, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “He’s somebody who belongs in the NBA. I know nothing’s official, but we’re working on a contract going forward with him.

“I’m happy for him, if we can get this done. I’m happy that he’s finally getting some stability in his own career because he’s had to fight for everything the last couple of years.

As mentioned by Kerr, the Warriors will now zone in on signing a player for its open two-way contract.
