Over the summer, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the team wasn't going to change its style of playing despite adding DeMarcus Cousins in free agency.

The Warriors push the pace on offense at every turn and move the ball side to side. The ball never sticks in Golden State. DeMarcus Cousins, meanwhile, often holds the ball as he surveys the floor from the post. Kerr said the Warriors will add a few plays into its playbook for Cousins, but won’t make any drastic changes.

Cousins is still recovering from his Achilles injury. It's uncertain when he'll make his season debut with the Warriors. When he is ready to play, Steve Kerr says the All-Star center will start for the team, though he also expects the 28-year-old big man to play a lot with the second unit — just like David West did last season:

“I think you'll see us use him in that David West role from the last couple of years, when David anchored the second unit,” Kerr told Tom Tolbert and John Lund on KNBR 680, via Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I think you'll see us play through DeMarcus, and we'll put him on the low block and have guys cutting around him.

“But the other thing that we can do — we haven't really had a big capable of doing since I've been here — is put him in some high screens and pop him out to the 3-point line. He's a really good 3-point shooter; he's got amazing soft hands, soft touch — and he can pass from out there too.”

Cousins signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal with Golden State in the summer. The talented center was averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game for the New Orleans Pelicans last season before getting hurt.
