The Golden State Warriors are waiting on a key update on Klay Thompson's recent Achilles injury, which could have a huge impact on the Dubs' 2020-21 season. Warriors president Bob Myers spoke Wednesday night after the 2020 NBA Draft about what Thompson's injury might mean for the Dubs' roster moving forward, and at this point, it does not appear like the team's plans are going to undergo a drastic change.

A somber Myers said the Warriors “needed wing depth anyway,” per The Athletic's Anthony Slater, and that will be addressed in the coming days as free agency gets underway on Friday. As expected, no potential targets were mentioned, but Thompson's injury obviously emphasizes the need for help in the wing department. This is especially truly after the Dubs selected center James Wiseman with the No. 2 pick in the draft.

Myers obviously wasn't downplaying Thompson's injury here, considering how the sharpshooting 2-guard has been a vital piece of the squad for many years now. Losing him for an extended period, again, would obviously be a huge blow for the squad, so at this point, the Warriors are hoping for some good news on that front.

It is concerning that Myers acknowledged that there is a possibility of Thompson missing significant time with his injury. This may give us a hint as to the type of mindset the Warriors' front office has right now in terms of the severity of the injury. While there's still a hint of optimism that Thompson won't miss the full season, he's almost certainly going to miss a good amount of time, and many are fearing the worst.

Thompson is expected to undergo an MRI on his Achilles on Thursday, and the results will give us a clearer picture of the situation at hand.
