The Chicago White Sox entered the 2022 MLB season with lofty goals and expectations. Thus far, they have fallen well short of that pace. Much of that has been due to injuries. On Sunday, the injury bug struck again. White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson was forced to leave the game vs. the Cubs Sunday due to a groin injury.

He needed assistance from two members of the White Sox staff to get off of the field. That's not usually the best sign.

During the top of the 5th inning in a scoreless game, P.J. Higgins hit a grounder up the middle. Anderson moved to his left and threw a bit off balance to first for the out from just into the grass. The White Sox All-Star infielder then went down to the ground and stayed there for a few minutes before being helped up and off the field.

Chicago later announced that he is dealing with a groin injury. Anderson is slated to undergo further evaluation Monday.

The angle with which Anderson contorted his body to make the throw was very awkward and not hard to see how he hurt his groin.

Anderson joins a long list of very good ball players to be hurt this year for Chicago. Prior to the season kicking off, Lance Lynn, one of last season's Cy Young finalists, was placed on the IL with a knee injury. He is not expected back until sometime in June.

The White Sox offense has also been crushed with injury. Eloy Jimenez and Yoan Moncada have missed large chunks of the season so far.

Despite all of the injuries, Chicago is still within striking distance of the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.
