The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals played a doubleheader on Tuesday, with the two clubs splitting the pair of contests. Seeing as it was their sixth day in a row with a game, the White Sox were looking to get some of their key players, such as star shortstop Tim Anderson, some rest where they could. Anderson, who went 0-for-4 with a run scored in the first game, sat out the nightcap of the doubleheader against the Royals, drawing the ire of former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, who said that the team is “babysitting players too much.” Anderson didn't take kindly to that, firing a since-deleted NSFW tweet in Guillen's direction, as reported by Talkin' Baseball on Twitter.

In the politest of terms, Anderson said that Guillen talks too much and needs to stop talking. To be fair, that's Guillen's job as a paid analyst on the NBC Sports Chicago network, though it's also understandable why the White Sox star was so mad.

It seemed like Guillen was not only questioning Anderson's desire to play every day but also his level of maturity. If anything, it's more important for the White Sox to find days off for the talented shortstop, who dealt with hamstring injuries that limited him to just 123 games this past season.

Of course Anderson wants to play every day, as Guillen suggested he should. However, that just might not be realistic, given his injury history. Whether the former manager likes it or not, the White Sox' plan for the doubleheader against the Royals was a smart one.
